AC Condenser in Chennai
The condenser sits in front of the radiator and releases the heat the refrigerant has picked up from the cabin, turning hot gas back into liquid.
What the AC condenser does
Hot, high-pressure gas from the compressor flows through the condenser’s thin aluminium tubes and fins. Air flowing through at speed, or pulled by the condenser fan at idle, cools the gas until it condenses into a high-pressure liquid that travels on to the receiver drier and expansion valve.
OEM or aftermarket?
Condensers sit at the front of the vehicle and are often damaged in minor accidents. Aftermarket condensers are widely used; the core size, pipe positions and mounting brackets must match the vehicle.

Signs of a failing AC condenser
- Poor cooling, especially in traffic or at idle
- Oily patches or green dye on the condenser face (refrigerant leak)
- Bent, blocked or corroded fins
- High-pressure cut-out switching the compressor off on hot days
Before you order
- Tell us the vehicle model, year and engine – condensers can differ between petrol and diesel versions.
- Replace the receiver drier when the condenser is replaced; on many newer cars it is built into the condenser.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a cooling coil and a condenser?
The cooling coil (evaporator) sits inside the dashboard and absorbs heat from the cabin air. The condenser sits in front of the radiator and releases that heat outside the vehicle.
