Cooling Coil (Evaporator) in Chennai
The cooling coil, also called the evaporator, sits inside the dashboard. It is where the refrigerant absorbs heat from the cabin air and makes it cold.
What the cooling coil (evaporator) does
Liquid refrigerant sprayed through the expansion valve evaporates inside the cooling coil, absorbing heat from the air the blower pushes across its fins. The cooled, dried air then flows out through the vents, and the moisture removed drains out under the vehicle.
OEM or aftermarket?
Replacing a cooling coil usually means removing much of the dashboard, so the right part first time matters. The core size and pipe connections must match exactly.

Signs of a failing cooling coil (evaporator)
- AC blows air but it is not cold, with no fault in the compressor or gas
- Musty or chemical smell from the vents
- Water dripping inside the cabin instead of under the vehicle
- Refrigerant needs topping up again and again with no visible outside leak
Before you order
- Share the model, year and variant – AC and climate-control versions sometimes use different coils.
- Replace the expansion valve and cabin filter at the same time.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my car AC smell bad?
A musty smell usually comes from a dirty cooling coil or a clogged cabin air filter. Replacing the filter often helps; a leaking or badly corroded coil needs replacement.
