Expansion Valve in Chennai

The expansion valve meters liquid refrigerant into the cooling coil, dropping its pressure so it can evaporate and absorb heat.

What the expansion valve does

A thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) senses the temperature of refrigerant leaving the cooling coil and opens or closes to keep the coil fully used without flooding the compressor with liquid. Some vehicles use a fixed orifice tube instead.

OEM or aftermarket?

Expansion valves are small but precise. Block-type and angle-type valves are not interchangeable, so the valve type and capacity must match the system.

Frequently asked questions

Should the expansion valve be replaced with a new compressor?

It is commonly replaced at the same time, because debris from a failed compressor can block the valve.
